Because the laser seals as it removes tissue, no stitches are needed, and bleeding is minimal. Most patients recover quickly and don't experience as much trauma as they would with traditional surgery.
For debridement of gum tissue, the soft tissue lasercan eliminate bacterial infection that lies in pockets between gums and teeth. With the infection gone, gums heal and reattach to teeth for a solid supporting structure. Dr. Silva can also perform biopsies, treat canker sores, and graft soft tissue with her laser.
